Robert Kollar, Sr. age 73, of Brunswick, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Southwest General Hospital, Middleburg Heights. He was born on June 30, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Andrew and Mary (nee Proze) Kollar.
Bob served in the U.S.Army during the Tet Offensive in Vietnam in 1967-1968. He was employed as a Cleveland fireman for 33 years, retiring in 2006. He was a member of the Brunswick VFW #9520, the Medina VFW # 5137, and I.A.F.F. Local #93.
He enjoyed golfing, carpentry, and being a handyman. Bob was devoted to his sibling’s care and wouldn’t hesitate to drop what he was doing to help others. He was a “father figure” and “mentor” to many people with his special ways of kindness.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Valerie (nee Wilson); dear children, Robert (Julie) Kollar, Jr., Todd Kollar, Gene Wilson, Janelle (Andrew) Martovitz, Nichole (Leon) Rudkowski; brother, John (Jan) Kollar; cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Trenton, Andrew Jr, Noah, Leo; sister-in-law, Diane Kollar; beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews; and his special friends, Jerry, Mike, Tom, and his golfing buddies.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Andrew, Mary, Anna, Marge, Millie, William, and Betty.
The family will receive friends for Bob on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, from 1:00-3:00PM and 5:00-8:00PM at Carlson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of Route 303) Brunswick. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 20th, at 11:00AM at the funeral home, with Fr. Joseph O’Donald, officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, Ohio at 12:30PM.
