Robert E “Bob” Long, 66, of Garrettsville passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 2, 2019. He was born on September 20, 1953 in Akron Ohio to Robert and Betty Long.
Bob started his career with Angel Construction where he learned to be a very talented Finish Carpenter. He loved to build things and figure out how to make any challenge work. His hobbies and talents included building furniture, and restoring cars and antiques. His work is shared across Garrettsville with family and friends and will be pieces that live on forever; including at the Methodist Church where he was a Trustee. Fords were his passion and began early on when he restored a Ford Model A with his dad. This passion continued, and he would be seen at every car show where he won many awards. He loved his morning coffee with the crew, and getting the scoop around town.
Bob will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Elaine, whom he was blessed to share 45 years of marriage; children, Mandy (Tim) Duncan, Marcy Long, and Matt Long. Bob will be missed most by his grandchildren, Emma and Jack Duncan and his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dave.
Please join Bob’s family for a Memorial Visitation on Friday, December 6, 2019 from 4:30pm to 7:00pm at Garrettsville United Methodist Church, 8223 Park Avenue Garrettsville, Ohio 44231. A Memorial Service for Bob will follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Dr. Richard Thewlis officiating. There will be dessert and coffee following the service. A private burial will be held at a later date.
