ROBERT T. SKLENKA

Robert T. Sklenka, passed away on September 8, 2022. He was predeceased by his parents, Julian D. Sklenka and Frances L. (nee Ziemba) Sklenka. Robert had his 95th Birthday on August 12, 2022. He was born in Lorain, Ohio.

He leaves behind his "Sweetie", Eleanor (nee Hric) of whom they met on September 8, eighty years ago. Together they have 4 children, Renee (Gregory,deceased), Robert D. (Susan), Linda, and Richard (Becky). They have 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Robert also leaves his 4 siblings, Ronald, Constance, Marylou, and Susan.

Robert was a proud American. He served in the Navy in the South Pacific on a troop transporter, The S.S. Pickaway. After leaving the Navy, he attended John Carroll University studying Engineering. Bob then worked for White Motors, GM, and Terex as a Mechanical Engineer. He was interested in local government and served the community as well. He was elected to the Brunswick City Council in 1965, and Brunswick City Charter Commission in 1968, Brunswick City School District Board of Education in 1967, served as a Charter member of Medina County Joint Vocational School Commission as well as The Board of Education for 4 years. He also began the Eucharistic Ministry for both St. Colette Catholic Church and St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Robert also enjoyed aviation and one of his favorite hobbies was flying model airplanes with his sons and uncles.

The family is greatly indebted to all the staff and volunteers at Perciak Family Residential Hospice of Southwest General for their impeccable care and kindness given to our dearest dad and his family. His last days were as happy as they could possibly be. Friends may join the family for visitation on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of Route 303) Brunswick, OH 44212. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Robert on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 929 Pearl Rd., Brunswick, OH 44212. There will be a visitation one hour prior to Mass at St. Ambrose (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Inurnment in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, OH, on Wednesday, September, 21, 2022, at 1:45 pm (PLEASE MEET AT THE FUNERAL HOME by 12:30 pm).
