REV ROGER LEE WHITT

Reverend Roger Lee Whitt, 68, of Garrettsville, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family on August 9, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 11, 1948 to George and Delcie (McCoy) Whitt in Man, West Virginia. Roger graduated from Man High School where he met the love of his life, Brenda. They were married on December 5, 1971 and have been happily married for 44 years. Roger retired from General Motors in Lordstown, after 38 years of employment.

Roger loved spending time with his family and was a very proud father and Papaw. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and gardener. Roger also enjoyed traveling to Florida and was a Cleveland Cavs and Indians fan. He was a Reverend at Bristolville Freewill Baptist Church and cherished time with his church family.

Roger is survived by his mother, Delcie; wife, Brenda (Toppings); children, Jennifer Whitt of Rocky River, Roger Whitt of Brooksville, FL and Lora (Paul) Gust of Mayfield Heights; sister, Gail (Frank) Imes of Florida; brother, Rev. George (Alice) Whitt of Champion; grandson, Adam Roger Gust; brother in law, Donald (Angela) Toppings, Jr.; proud uncle of many loving nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Maggie Mae.

He was preceded in death by his father, George.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 11-1 PM at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio 44231. Funeral service to be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016, 1 PM at the funeral home with Rev. George E. Whitt officiating. Burial to follow at Harrington Cemetery in Nelson, Ohio.
