ROSE S. WHITNEY

Rose S. Whitney, 98, of Kent, formerly of Freedom, left to be in the arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday January 17, 2014. She was born May 17, 1915 to Mathias and Susanna (Toricht) Just in Suffield Ohio.
She married Arthur Whitney on November 18, 1939 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Akron. Rose was a proud member of the Freedom Congregational Church and was a member of a pinochle club in Garrettsville for more than 50 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband Bud were owners of the Western Auto Store in Garrettsville for 20 years.
Rose survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Arthur (Bud) Whitney; daughters Rebecca Miller of Garrettsville and Elaine (Billy) Kanode of Boulder City, NV; sister Erma Bender of Atwater; brother Henry Just of Mogadore; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Elsie and Frieda; brother Richard Just and son in law Francis Miller.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Tuesday January 21, 2014 from 5 – 7 PM. The service will follow at 7 PM with Rev. Dr. Jim Melick and Rev. John Ryan at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St. Garrettsville, Ohio 44231. Interment will be private in Drakesburg Cemetery, Freedom Township Ohio.
