Photo: Obituary: Roy Pancost of Hiram, Ohio passed away suddenly on May 17th 2012 . He leaves his loving wife and best friend of 63 years, Barbara (Streeter); his children Louann Mack (Tim) and their 8 children, Emily (Brian), Zach (Shannon), Kaley, Ian, Cameron, Gwyn, Sydney, and Ahlanna of Hickory, NC; Steven Pancost (Janet) and their children Edward and Nicholas of Hiram, Ohio and Jonathan (Becky) and their children, Sophie, Harlan and Lilly of Lucas, Kansas; his sisters, Joan and Ruth of St. Augustine, Florida and his brother, Richard (Sue) of Graysville, Oh. Roy was described by his friends and family as a Renaissance man. He never stopped learning about the world around him, whether it was beekeeping, photography, flying airplanes or learning to play the piano, he had a hunger to know more. He loved gardening and was a master gardener. He loved playing the saxophone whether with his friend Dale, or the Big Band called Garrettones. He was an exceptional musician. He loved encouraging others to find the joy he found in music. He was self-employed and owned his own company, RJ in Garrettsville. He was co-owner of the Villager for many years and wrote columns on birding and gardening. He loved volunteering at the 4C’s Food Cupboard. He was an organ donor. He will be missed by his extended Hiram Family at the 4th of July celebrations and his Hiram Christian church family, especially the choir. Roy was a wonderful and much loved husband, father, and grandfather to 13, uncle, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all of us. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 PM on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Hiram Christian Church, 6868 Wakefield Rd, Hiram, Oh 44234 with Rev. Roger McKinney officiating. Contributions can be made in Roy’s name to the 4C’s Food Cupboard or the Hiram Christian Church.
