Rudolph "Rudy" P. Popovich, age 76, of Brunswick, passed away April 15, 2020. He was born June 18, 1943 in Cleveland, OH to the late Paul and Margaret (nee Gaal) Popovich. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Christine (nee Hornick).
Rudy served in the U.S. Navy and the Cleveland Police Department for 24 years, retiring as a Detective. He cherished hanging out with his friends at the Buckeye lounge, riding his motorcycle and cruising in his Mustang. He was affectionately known as “mayor of the neighborhood”. He enjoyed alone time in his second garage, keno, scratch off's and pull tabs. Rudy liked watching Westerns, M.A.S.H., and Wheel of Fortune. He was a connoisseur of beer and root beer, and had a sweet tooth, especially for Little Debbie's. He liked bowling in his younger days. He was infamous for traveling by car without stopping for a rest.
He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Lisa Popovich (Debbie), Laura Dues (Lawrence), Lee Ann Petry (Keith), and Lynn Popovich (Jeff); Ed Huber; his grandchildren, Jacob, Ryan, Carson, and Sydney; his sister, Gizella Weaver; his sister-in-law, Julie Kormos; his many nieces and nephews, to whom he was Uncle Rudy; and his faithful dog, Dude.
Friends may join the family for a drive through visitation on Sunday, April 19, 2020 from 2-5 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, OH 44256. Private family service and Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Valley City, OH
