Ruth A. Basel, 85, of Mantua, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 15, 2017. She was born on March 25, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio to Ragon and Edna (Walkden) Baynes.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mantua and the Mantua American Legion Women’s Auxillary. Ruth was a true Cleveland Cavaliers fan and never missed watching her favorite player, Kevin Love play. She enjoyed reading and watching soap operas. Ruth’s greatest accomplishment wasn’t her career as a secretary, it was her children!
Ruth is survived by her children, Thomas (Erin) Basel of Mantua, Paul (Crystal) Basel of Chagrin Falls and Suzanne (Scott) Tubre of Mantua; grandchildren, Jesse (Amber) Wallace, Cody Wallace, Colby Basel and Aspen Basel; great grandchildren, Ayden, Chloe, Eleanor and Victoria; brother, Robert (Carol) Baynes of California; niece, Sarah (Jeremiah) Leferink Shinn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome; brother, Ralph Baynes; niece, Carol Baynes.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, 1:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 11045 St. Jospeph Blvd., Mantua, Ohio 44255 with Father Edward Stafford officiating. PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Burial to follow in Westlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Ruth’s name to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
