SARAH SCHMIDT

Sarah Schmidt passed away on Tuesday, September 29th, 2020 surrounded by family and friends. Sarah was the daughter of Alice Travnikar and Ernest Schmidt Sr.; the sister of Ernest Jr., Joan (deceased), David (deceased), and Thomas (deceased). She was a sister in law to Mary Ann Schmidt and Susan Schmidt and aunt to Elizabeth Schmidt.

Sarah dedicated herself to caring for her family when it was needed. She cared for her parents and sister, Joan, in the later years of their life and made sure to be present for her niece, Elizabeth, and dear friend, Safa Shubbar. She was a doting mother to her cats and late dog, Trixie, and was always delighted in presence of animals.

Sarah was a licensed occupational therapist and served her community as a census worker for many years. In her younger years, Sarah and her sister, Joan, helped promote the rebirth of downtown Cleveland by working on Party in the Park. She enjoyed going to Pelee Island with her family, and, as a child, collected dolls that her grandmother brought back from her travels abroad. Her and her sister were also unwavering fans of their sister in law, Susan’s, blueberry pie.

Sarah ‘s commitment to her faith was strong, and she practiced her beliefs in a way that embodied compassion and acceptance of others. Sarah will be remembered by her caring spirit, strong will, and appreciation for the small joys of life.
