"Together Again"
Theresa Marie Manno, of Middlefield, formerly of Garrettsville, joined her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 3, 2023. She was born June 30, 1928, in Euclid, OH, to the late Anthony and Nina (Crisafulli) Baglione.
She was the daughter of Italian immigrants from Funari, Sicily; Theresa’s father was a WW I combat veteran who fought in the Argonne Forest in France. When the Bagliones settled in America, they chose Martins Ferry, OH, as their home. Her father, Tony, worked on FDR’s WPA during the Great Depression, then at Martins Ferry Steel as he and Nina raised Theresa and her brother, Joseph, where they were taught to speak Italian, as well as English. Theresa’s mother would sew her Shirley Temple dresses to wear, as Nina was an accomplished sewer. In 1949, Theresa met a dashing veteran turned OU student, Joseph Manno, courtesy of her brother, Joe. In 1951, they married, then had their son, Dino. While in Athens, Joe found a job listing to teach in Garrettsville, a town both he and Theresa have never heard about. After moving to Garrettsville, Mark and Matt were born. Theresa worked many years at Pelsue Drug Store. She tirelessly donated much of her time volunteering for various organizations. Theresa enjoyed gardening, golfing, and spending time with family and friends. Ever the caregiver, she was truly passionate about taking care of those she knew and loved; she assisted anyone that she could, and had a weakness for babies. Theresa was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Garrettsville, where she and her late husband, Joe, were instrumental in the beginning of the Chicken Dinner Festival. She was an important person to all who knew and loved her, and there will forever be a place in our hearts, where part of her will always live.
Theresa will be deeply missed by her loving children, Dino (Melanie) Manno, of Garrettsville, Mark (Kym) Manno, of Hiram and Matthew Manno, of Middlefield; granddaughter, Michele (Rodney) Tyner; great-grandson, Alex Tyner; sister-in-law, Jean Baglione; nephews and nieces, Rick Baglione, Scott (Kanaka) Baglione, Perry (Raul) Baglione, Michael (Sophia) Baglione, Kimberly Manno, and Anthony (Becky) Mann; grand-niece, Jessica, as well as many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved Joe, with whom she was blessed to share 62 years of marriage; brother, Joseph Baglione, and grandson, Steve Kerr.
Please join the family for a memorial visitation on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M., at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. A memorial service will begin at the funeral home at 12:00 P.M., with the Rev. Frantisek Katrinak officiating. Theresa will then be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Joe, at Park Cemetery.
