Thomas J. Hughes, 78, of Garrettsville, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at his residence. He was born June 9, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Thomas W. and Mae (Lynch) Hughes.
Tom was a postal engineer who devoted his career to serving our nation in the United States Air Force during WWII, Korea and Vietnam as a TSGT. He was a member of VFW Post 219 in Charlotte, NC, and also enjoyed cruising, cooking, and flowers.
He is survived by a son, Jerry W. (Mae) of North Carolina; daughters, Michele (Bob) Smith of Garrettsville and Theresa “Terri” (Wesley) Moon of Perry, OH; grandchildren, Mike Buckholdt, Mandy Smith, Tommy Buckholdt, Nick Moon, Christi Stokes , Heather, Veronica, and Amanda Hughes; and 3 great-grandchildren, Chasidy, Ethan, and Rachel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Jean in 2003; and a son, Joseph S.
Services and burial will be at 10 AM on Friday, July 2, 2010 at Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH with full military honors.
