THOMAS J. MCGINTY JR.

Thomas “Tommy” J. McGinty Jr., age 67, of Valley City, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024. He was born on December 6, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio to Catherine (O’Boyle) and Thomas McGinty.

In addition to his parents, he is reunited with his sister Diana Brown. 

Beloved husband of 22 years to Marie McGinty (O’Neill); loving father of Angel (Scott) Sonego, Jessica O’Neill, Daneil O’Neill, Samantha DiVincenzo, Ralph DiVincenzo; cherished grandfather to, Briana, Paityn, Kaleb, Alexia, Sophia, Jaden, Jemma, Lydia, Ethan, and Elijah.

He was a dear brother to Gary (Julie) McGinty, Donna (Daniel) Strong, Ann (Jeff) Onyski, Kathy Sampson and Nanci McGinty. Dearest uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.

After dedicating 32 years of service to Strongsville City Schools, Thomas left behind a legacy of hard work, laughter, and devotion that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He was a devoted family man who never hesitated to lend a hand (or tell you how to do things his way). If you ever needed a laugh, Thomas was your guy. Always cracking jokes and claiming he was "the boss" even if he wasn’t always in charge! 

His grandkids were the light of his life, and he loved teaching them how to cook, especially his famous family recipes. Family game nights were his favorite, and when it came to Yahtzee, no one could beat the "Full House Man."

Thomas loved the great outdoors, and fishing was his go-to escape. He was fiercely proud of his Irish heritage and lived for the Christmas season, filling the house with laughter and good times.Though stubborn as could be, he was always full of love and life. His spirit and sense of humor will be missed, but his legacy lives on in the stories, the laughter, and the love he left behind.

Please join the family for visitation on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 1:00 P.M to 4:00 P.M with a service to follow starting at 4:00 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Rd. (1/2 mile south of route 303), Brunswick. Directly after the service their will be a gathering held in the Community Center at the Funeral Home, where everyone can continue celebrating Tommy's life.

Per Thomas’s request, cremation will follow.
