THOMAS "TOM" WILLIAM RIGBY

Thomas "Tom" William Rigby was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was born in Painesville, Ohio to Alfred and Lucille Rigby on February 12, 1946, and he left this world suddenly on August 15, 2021 at the age of 75.

Tom met the love of his life, Jolene, in 1971. They knew it was meant to be and wed after only 9 months of dating. Tom originally worked in banking, but after he and Jo had two kids, he quit that career to become the absolute best stay-at-home dad (before it was the cool thing to do). While working real estate on the side, he was there for his kids every day after school, and he made a point to cheer on his kids at all their games and activities. He was also a fantastic cook. He made dinner every night for his family, and he was known by his kids' friends for his stellar breakfast.

Tom loved spending time with his family and rough housing with his grandkids. He adored going for walks on the nature trial, at Hinckley Lake, or around the ponds behind his home in Medina. He loved to garden, and he was very proud of both of his yards. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and hated to miss even a single game. He was always up for a game of scrabble on his iPad (and would challenge his kids when they were around), and he was a great euchre player. He loved the simple things, like good food and a great beer. If there was a rocking chair or a swing, he would find it. He was always rocking. He would sing and dance like no one was watching, but, in fact, he did it because people were watching, to make everyone laugh. Tom's silly demeanor and kind soul will be missed by all those who knew him.

Tom will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 49 years, Jolene Rigby (Huber), his daughter, Kim (Shawn), and his son, Mike (Cindy). He was the cherished grandfather (or "Papa" as they called him) to Brayden, Jocelyn, Gabrielle, Adelyn, and Emma.

Tom is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Ann (Michael) Neroda and Barbara (Kenneth) Schraufl; his brother-in-law, Bill Brooks, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Lucille; sisters, Charlotte, Patricia, Jean, and Madelyn; brother, Jack.

Please join the family for a Memorial Visitation for Tom on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, Ohio. A Memorial Service and Reception will immediately follow from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Facial coverings are required. Please observe recommended social distancing guidelines.
