William John Boyd, 50, of Westfield Center, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly after going into cardiac arrest on Saturday September 30th, 2023.
He was born in Canton, Ohio, on March 20th, 1973, and was a graduate of Canton McKinley. William later moved to Akron, Ohio, to attend the University of Akron. He made his career as a chef throughout his life, as good food and feeding people were lifelong passions. William was an avid sports fan with a wicked sense of humor; he loved music and his dogs more than anything.
William was a tissue and organ donor and his wishes were carried out. I know how much it would mean to him if he could improve or save even one person’s life.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Edna Gallentine; they truly meant the world to him and made a huge impact on his life. William was also preceded in death by his aunts, Peg (Doug) Sanford and Carol (John) Tuttle.
William is survived by his wife, Melanie Boyd; beloved mother, Mary (Gallentine) and stepfather, Mark Borger; father, Marcus Fields; brother, Steven (Penny) Boyd; niece, Brittany (Ben) Kaplar; nephews, Mitchell and Nicholas Boyd; aunt, Helen (David) Lash, and numerous family members, as well as great friends from so many stages of his life.
The family asks for your patience at this difficult time; we are planning a remembrance for William that is thoughtful and considerate of his wishes. He did not want calling hours or a memorial service at a funeral home (no offense Carlson, you are lovely), or anything formal. William wanted something more casual and celebratory with music, food, drinks, laughter, and stories. We will update this page, his Facebook, and by being in touch, when it is planned.
So many people are asking how they can help and what they can do. We ask that you consider a donation to the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter,
