William J. Sherry, 84, of Brunswick, Ohio passed away on August 27, 2023. He was born January 24, 1939, in Nicktown, PA., to the late Gerald and Helen (Lantz) Sherry.
William retired from Ford Motor Company and was a member of UAW Local 1005. He was a hunter, fisherman, ball player, bowler, and golfer. His love for the outdoors was only superseded by his love of spending time with family. He would drop everything for a family bonfire.
He was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and a great uncle to many.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brothers James and John Sherry; brother-in-law, Deacon Bernard Zernick and Robert (Gen) Yingling; and sister-in-law, Lorraine (Freddy) Onorato.
William is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley; children, Tawney (Steve) Brooks, William J. Sherry Jr., Brian (Julie) Sherry, Renelle (Kevin) Sherry-Mau and Renee (Albert) Velasquez; grandchildren, Victoria (Brenden) Mullen, Krystal (Anthony) Lanzara, Rachael (Joshua) Niemer, Sydney Sherry, Jessie James, Jordan James, Kaylie James, Ryan Mau, Hunter Velasquez, Logan Velasquez, and Valentina Velasquez; great grandchildren, Makenna Mullen, Giovanni Lanzara, Audrianna Lanzara and Joselyn Niemer. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters and their spouse, Robert (Judy) Sherry, Dolores Zernick, Janet (William) Kudlawiec, Geraldine (Robert) Nagle, Gary (Paulette) Sherry, Ronald (Beverly) Sherry, Larry (Reatta) Sherry all, of, Nicktown, PA., sisters-in-law, Eleanor and Bonnie Sherry of Northern, Cambria, PA; and Mary Lou (Julius) Misurda. William was a loving uncle and great uncle to many.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 8, 2023 at Carlson Funeral Home and Cremations Services in Medina, 3477 Medina Rd. Medina Ohio 44256 from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Parish, 929 Peral Rd. Brunswick, Ohio 44212 at 9 a.m. with burial to follow in East Lawn Memory Gardens in Brunswick.
