WILLOW SOLTIS

Willow Lois Soltis, 94, of Parkman Twp., OH, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2024. She was born March 17, 1930, in Detroit, MI, to the late Mark and Lois (nee Richards) Ford.

Willow was raised in Mesopotamia, OH, graduated from Mesopotamia High School in 1948, and worked in accounting at True Temper Corporation in Cleveland. In 1950, she married Joe Soltis and worked in accounting at The Johnson Rubber Company in Middlefield, before the birth of her sons. After the death of Joe, she worked in Customer Service at Flambeau in Middlefield, before retiring at the age of 70.

Willow was a longtime supporter and parishioner of St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Parkman, OH, where she was a member of the finance committee and choir. She taught multiple generations to swim through the YWCA of Warren at Moss Beach (Parkman). She was also a well-known seamstress and enjoyed reupholstering furniture with Joe. She enjoyed tending her flowers, maintaining her yard, and going to local fish fries with friends.

Willow will be deeply missed by her loving sons, Michael (Jane Pekarek DVM) Soltis, David (Marti nee Christiansen) Soltis, William “Pat” (Laura nee Willis) Soltis, and Robert (Ruth nee Graham) Soltis; grandchildren Margaret (Petamber Pahuja), Andrew Soltis, Nicole Soltis and Lauren Soltis; great grandchild Maeve Pahuja; her niece Stephenie (Darren) Spotz, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph “Joe” J. Soltis, her sister Elizabeth Pitorak (founder and former CEO of the Hospice of the Western Reserve) and her brother-in-law Stephen Pitorak. 

Please join the family for a visitation Friday, September 6, 2024, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 16150 Center St, Parkman, OH 44080, where Fr. Jacob Bearer and Fr. John Burkley will officiate. Willow will then be taken to Overlook Cemetery in Parkman Twp., OH, where she will be lovingly laid to rest beside her beloved Joe.
